We celebrated the end of our States of Matter Unit with an ice cream party. Only this time, we decided to make our own homemade vanilla ice cream.
The process of making ice cream using zip-lock bags, salt, ice, milk, and sugar was incredibly fun, delicious, and super sticky! Oh, boy.

CookShop Classroom is a hands-on, interdisciplinary program that combines cooking and physical activities to encourage students to make healthier food and lifestyle choices.
CookShop Classroom is truly a remarkable program that gets all kids excited about eating, learning, and cooking. This week, we explored various types of vegetables and learned about their nutritional benefits. Remember, you eat with both your eyes and your heart. My lovely students decided to "surprise" me with their homemade fruit salad for my birthday!
How did they get these ingredients? They decided to take several extra servings of fruit from the cafeteria, stuffed it in their lunch box, and then requested to make fruit salad as a gift for my birthday when they came back. I was left with nothing but smiles and laughter. It was quite sweet. The fruit salad was even sweeter! This week for Cookshop Classroom, we created a healthy fruit salad. Our fruit salad consisted of grapes, apples, oranges, and pineapple. If you were to create your own fruit salad, what would you put in it? After prepping and chopping all of the ingredients for our fruit salad, the kids are ready to eat. Before we eat any Cookshop meal, we always say: Bon appetit, it's time to eat! EMPTY BOWLS! We loved it.
